Foster, Volunteer & Board Opportunities
We’re Building Our Team
Cavalli’s Husky & Wolfdog Rescue is actively building a statewide network of foster homes, volunteers, and leadership supporters before opening for regular intakes.
As Colorado’s first PACFA-licensed, fully foster-based rescue dedicated to Huskies and companion-bred Wolfdogs, our goal is to grow responsibly and ensure the right people, resources, and systems are in place before every rescue effort begins.
By joining now, you’ll become part of the foundation that helps us provide safe, ethical, and successful outcomes for the dogs who need us most.
Whether you’re interested in fostering, volunteering, helping with projects, supporting rescue operations, contributing professional skills, or serving on our Board of Directors, we’d love to hear from you.
Foster With Cavalli’s Rescue

As a fully foster-based rescue, every dog we save depends on a foster home.
Fosters provide a safe, stable environment that allows dogs to decompress, learn, heal, and prepare for permanent placement.
Foster homes play a critical role in helping us understand each dog’s personality, behavior, needs, and ideal placement.
What Foster Homes Provide
- A safe and stable home environment
- Daily care, feeding, and enrichment
- Observation and behavioral feedback
- Transportation assistance when possible
- Communication with the rescue team
- Patience, structure, and consistency
What We’re Looking For
We are especially interested in foster homes that offer:
- Safe fencing or appropriate containment
- Experience with northern breeds or working dogs (preferred but not required)
- Willingness to learn about Husky and Wolfdog behavior
- Ability to safely separate animals when needed
- Commitment to helping dogs succeed
We’re Currently Accepting Foster Applications
Although we are not yet open for regular direct intakes, we are actively reviewing foster applications now.
Approved foster homes will be added to our active foster roster and contacted as placement opportunities become available.
Interested in Foster-to-Adopt?
Whenever possible, Cavalli’s Rescue strives to place dogs directly into foster-to-adopt homes.
Our goal is to minimize unnecessary transitions and provide dogs with the greatest possible stability during the placement process.
Foster-to-adopt allows both the dog and the prospective adopter an opportunity to ensure the placement is the right fit before final adoption takes place.
While not every dog or situation will qualify, foster-to-adopt opportunities can be especially beneficial for puppies, young adults, and dogs requiring additional evaluation before permanent placement.
Foster-to-adopt may be ideal if you:
- Are interested in eventual adoption
- Want time to ensure the dog is a good fit
- Are willing to work closely with the rescue during the evaluation process
- Understand that adoption is not guaranteed until the foster-to-adopt period is complete
Volunteer Opportunities
Not every volunteer role involves fostering.
As we grow, volunteers will play an important role in helping us support rescue efforts across Colorado.
Volunteer opportunities may include:
- Shelter pulls and transport assistance
- Veterinary transport
- Supply pickups and deliveries
- Event support
- Emergency support during rescue efforts
- General rescue operations assistance
Volunteer needs will vary based on rescue activity and organizational growth.
Property & Facility Projects
Building a rescue takes more than foster homes.
We regularly need help preparing and improving the facilities and spaces that will support future rescue dogs.
Current and future projects may include:
- Wolfdog enclosure construction
- Dog house and shelter builds
- Puppy room improvements
- Artificial turf installation
- Enrichment area construction
- Yard preparation and cleanup
- General property improvement projects
These hands-on projects help us create safe, functional environments for future rescue dogs while keeping costs focused on animal care.
Organizational Support
Some of the most valuable contributions happen behind the scenes.
We welcome individuals interested in helping with:
- Social media management
- Content creation
- Fundraising campaigns
- Grant research and writing
- Administrative support
- Community outreach
- Event planning
- Graphic design
- Photography and videography
- Marketing and communications
Whether you have professional experience or simply want to donate your skills, we’d love to learn how you can help.
Founding Board Opportunities
Building a rescue takes more than foster homes, volunteers, and funding — it takes dedicated individuals willing to help provide oversight, accountability, and long-term direction for the organization.
As Cavalli’s Husky & Wolfdog Rescue continues to grow, we are actively seeking individuals interested in serving on our volunteer Board of Directors and helping guide the future of the rescue.
Because Cavalli’s Rescue serves communities throughout Colorado, we are especially interested in connecting with individuals located in Colorado who are interested in taking an active role in supporting the organization’s growth, outreach, fundraising, and long-term success.
Board members play an important role in supporting organizational growth, strategic planning, financial stewardship, policy development, and long-term sustainability.
Current Board Opportunities
We are currently seeking individuals interested in serving in the following capacities:
- Vice President
- Treasurer
- Secretary
- Board Members At Large
All Board of Directors positions at Cavalli’s Husky & Wolfdog Rescue are volunteer roles and receive no financial compensation.
Experience in nonprofit leadership, finance, business operations, fundraising, animal welfare, or related fields is appreciated but not required. Passion, reliability, integrity, and commitment to our mission matter most.
If you’ve ever wanted to help build something meaningful from the ground up and make a lasting impact on the lives of Huskies and companion-bred Wolfdogs, we’d love to hear from you.
